Mz. Liberty

Mz. Liberty

by Clarence R. Williams

The screams moans and cries
awaken my consciousness
to an all time high
Names called out from small mouths
in terror
Where is the humanness to care
about these small beings?

Little faces washed down with tears

Crimson eyes seeking
salvation, reunification and
 justice from this New World

Sorrow of mind and heart strangle my every atom
My grief for the loss of
America

She has shed her beauty and
turned all dark
so much darkness I cannot see her color

I don’t understand her anymore
Who She?
This America

She cages little children
hiding them from their parents
She has morphed into the evil old monster who lives deep in our reality

America can you change ?

Can you rid yourself of your ill ways?
Can you Mz America
revisit your time of Glory?
Can you find a path to redemption?

I will never understand you
but moreover I cannot forgive you
I no longer know how to love you

America The non-beautiful
How you laid upon challenged waters rolling deep into a never returning vessel sailed away in a dark past
never to come back again
simply gone
America

She shrouds her liberties
in the furrows of forgotten souls
She nurtures the greedy with
her war torn breasts
Lady Liberty is postured in the harbor forbidden to welcome the tired and poor Her light is diminished as she can no longer call herself
Liberty

No visible sign in plain view
No early morning rituals
or Sunday morning hallelujahs
No grateful shouts
Just a clear declaration
A simple name change

No longer America

just
